Mississippi State Softball Ranked at No. 22 in the ESPN/USA Softball Collegiate Rankings

Mississippi State softball is still ranked. Vann Stuedeman and the Bulldogs continue to earn national respect for what they’ve done this season as they sit at No. 22 in the latest ESPN/USA Softball rankings.

Mississippi State has started the season strong, winning 28 of their first 37 games. The Bulldogs 28-9 start has earned the respect of many, especially as the Mississippi State softball team battles against even the toughest teams in the nation.

But, the Bulldogs have struggled recently. In Southeastern Conference play, Mississippi State is 3-6 so far. Mississippi State claimed its first series of SEC play, beating Missouri twice. But, when facing a top 10 team in Georgia, MSU could only claim one win. Against Arkansas on the road, MSU fell and was swept.

Though that is a bit disheartening, MSU is dominant at home. The Bulldogs have gone 20-3 at Nusz Park, a record they’ll look to add to when Mississippi State softball hosts Texas A&M this weekend.

On top of that, there’s still plenty of reasons to be hopeful and optimistic about the year. The Bulldogs have a dominant group of pitchers and some of the best hitters in the SEC.

Mississippi State looks to continue winning and to have an incredible year. The Bulldogs certainly can do so.

This ranking that they’ve earned indicates that MSU is going to get respect nationally this season. If Mississippi State can take a couple SEC series that most would say the Bulldogs probably shouldn’t and get some upset wins, Vann Stuedeman and her team will be looking at a solid seeding for postseason play.
