Dak Prescott put together the greatest rookie season by a quarterback in NFL history last season, but what he is doing off the field truly speaks to who he is.

Dak Prescott is coming off of a historic rookie campaign where he led the Cowboys to 13 wins, was selected to the Pro Bowl, won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and became the face of America’s Team.

Despite the success, Dak doesn’t forget what truly matters to him.

The legendary Mississippi State quarterback appeared on Good Morning America and ESPN to discuss the “Ready. Raise. Rise.” Foundation to spread cancer awareness. Dak lost his mother to colon cancer during his redshirt-sophomore season in 2013.

Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet joined Dak on GMA to talk about the foundation’s goals:

"“The message Dak and I, and ‘Ready.Raise. Rise.,’ want to say is that cancer diagnosis is a serious thing, obviously,” Stonestreet said on the show. “What we are working toward is to make cancer more treatable, more manageable, more survivable for the patient.”"

Here is some of what Dak discussed while on Good Morning America.

"“Losing my mom as only a sophomore in college. 20 years old. Cancer is near and dear to my heart, so any signs going forward is going toward immunoon cology research to defeat cancer. Everything that I do in life is to try and honor my mom, and this is another situation where I can use my platform to bring awareness to all the Americans affected by this devastating disease.”"

Everybody knows Dak’s story. Dak was extremely close with his mother throughout his life, so it is no shock that he is using his platform to raise awareness to the awful illness that took his best friend from his life.

Dak later joined ESPN’s NFL Live host Trey Wingo. Wingo and Dak discussed football, but Prescott made sure to mention the Ready Raise Raise Foundation. It is clear that Dak wants to use his stature and profile for an awesome cause that holds a special place in his heart.

He will also make an appearance on CBS Sports’ Tiki and Tierney and ESPN’s “The Six” to spread more awareness on the organization and the goals he has.
