Dak Prescott’s close relationship with his late mother Peggy was featured in part of E:60’s Mother’s Day Special on ESPN.

On Mother’s Day, the ESPN and E:60 crew decided to tell the world about former Mississippi State and current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his relationship that he had with his late mother, Peggy.

Dak’s surge through the NFL and sports world during the course of his thrilling and spectacular rookie season as the starting quarterback has made him a household name across American sports fans. In fact, Jeremy Schaap — the man who reported on Dak’s story for ESPN Sunday morning — called Dak Prescott one of the “biggest names in sports”.

"“It’s pretty simple,” E:60 host Jeremy Schaap said in a phone interview this week. “We asked who are the biggest names in sports. If it’s not Tom Brady, it’s Dak. He is the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and has an amazing story.”"

Big praise from one of ESPN’s lead reporters. But, the story of the morning is the profile that ESPN gave on Dak Prescott’s story and the close bond he had with his mother.

In a short clip that’s posted on ESPN’s site, Dak calls his mother his “biggest fan” and says that she would be proud and excited about everything that he has accomplished.

The self-proclaimed mama’s boy obviously had a tight-knit bond with the woman who raised he and his brothers in Haughton, Louisiana. His biggest cheerleader and supporter meant the world to him. On the eve of his first career NFL start, the mama’s boy sat down and wrote a letter to none other than to his best friend.

"“I do it before games. Not necessarily a big game, but a random game. (I) needed to get some things off. She’s the person I vent to, so I take out my phone and just begin to write.I was excited to play and, obviously, I’m going to be honoring her.”"

The touching tribute Dak Prescott makes to his mother, Peggy. For the full story on Dak, and other exclusive E:60 stories, go to ESPN on any streaming device

The Dallas News also reports that Schaap plans to expand on the 10-minute feature that aired Sunday morning:

"Schaap promised that E:60 plans a more expanded look at Prescott down the road. It will include some of what is being left on the cutting room floor and fresh fodder. Already in the plans: Schaap and Prescott together on a fishing trip."

The Mississippi State fan base is already well aware of Dak, Peggy, and the relationship they had with one another. But, it is cool to see the world have the opportunity to learn about the story of the man who continues to make the state of Mississippi proud.
