Mississippi State Football: Most Impactful Newcomers

Cornerback maybe a bigger question mark than offensive line in 2016. And truth be told, this group is so inexperienced that I had a handful of newcomers to pick from.

Chris Stamps and Maurice Smitherman are redshirt freshmen and C.J. Morgan is a true freshman who enrolled early and participated in spring practice. These guys are all looking to earn a starting spot at cornerback. But the guy I believe could have the biggest impact is Lashard Durr.

Durr’s junior college experience at Copiah-Lincoln CC could be the difference in him and the others competing to start opposite Tolando Cleveland (although the rumor mill is turning about Cleveland possibly suffering a major injury). Durr was the leader of the defense in JUCO which could benefit a secondary that could use a leader.
