State’s every year east opponent is Kentucky and you can usually chalk up the “W.” This year’s rotational opponent is South Carolina. SC may be in an even bigger transition than MSU after Steve Spurrier retired and the Gamecocks hired Will Muschamp as head coach. As the second game of the year, Mississippi State should be able to take advantage of a team still adjusting to a scheme. What makes this game so important is the opportunity to get a conference win and start the season 2-0.
