2016 Mississippi State Football Opponents to Know: Les Miles
We take a look at an offensive and defensive player from the 2016 Mississippi State Football opponents who will likely play a key part in the season, plus the opposing head coach.
When the Mississippi State football team takes on LSU for the third game of the season, they get to take on one of the most successful coaches in all of college football in Les Miles. And he might get fired after the 2016 season.

Les Miles has won 111 games in 11 seasons as the head coach at LSU, basically 10 a year. He has only lost 32 games in that same time, so an average of 3 a year. And the LSU administration tried their best to fire him after 2015.
The only reason they chose not to was because they couldn’t convince Jimbo Fisher to leave Florida State. So they kept Miles, and if he doesn’t win the West in 2016, we could have the same drama surrounding Les Miles in 2016 that we had in 2015.
Les Miles is unique. He does things differently, he says things many of us don’t understand, and he eats grass. The college football world is better off with Les Miles as a head coach. But LSU and its fans wants to win championships, not just 9 or 10 games a season. That’s why there is still a decent chance Les Miles is sent packing after the 2016 season.
So losing to a Mississippi State football team that LSU will likely be the heavy favorite against would be a disaster for Miles. Any loss he takes before the Alabama game will get all the same hot seat talk he endured in 2015 start right back up, and if it happens in the third game of the season, the Tigers would have a huge distraction for the rest of the season.

The Bulldogs won’t be favored to win, but I could see a game where two dominant defenses hold each other in check all game long develops. And if that’s the case, an unproven Bulldog offense won’t need much to pull off a huge early season upset. And with the drama which will surround Miles this season, this makes the MSU-LSU game one of the better ones to watch early in the season.
