Trying to figure out which players have been the most valuable for this year’s Mississippi State baseball team is no easy task. When your team has made a steady climb up the polls, it’s difficult to narrow the list down to just a few players.

Despite that, I am still going to try. This team has a wealth of talent, and because different players have stepped up in different ways especially since the beginning of SEC play, some of the players who were playing in the early portion of the schedule have had a hard time finding their way into the lineup.

John Cohen has been criticized in the past for juggling his lineups too much, but this season, he has been far more consistent. It’s one of the reasons this Mississippi State baseball team has had more success in the regular season than fans have seen in the previous seven seasons under Cohen.

You’re going to see some players on this list who will be obvious choices. Since I am limiting it to five players, you’re also going to get through and wonder how I left some players off. It’s just the nature of the beast with this team. When so many players are playing well, someone will have to be left off. It doesn’t mean they aren’t important. These are the players I believe who have had the biggest impact so far on a team full of impact players.
