David Turner Leaves Mississippi State Football to Head to Texas A&M
The Mississippi State football team must replace another member of its coaching staff.
In an offseason full of coaching changes, the Mississippi State football team must make one more. We learned today the Bulldogs are losing David Turner to the Texas A&M Aggies.
David Turner was rumored to be a coaching candidate to replace the defensive line coach at Oklahoma, but most Mississippi State football fans believed we had nothing to worry about. Getting Turner away from the Bulldogs was probably going to be too steep of a price to pay to pry him out of Starkville.
But when the news broke this morning, fans of the Bulldogs were very surprised. No one had mentioned anything about Texas A&M being in pursuit of David Turner.
This comes as a huge blow to Mississippi State football fans. Turner became one of the most beloved coaches on the staff by the fans after he played a pivotal role in signing Jeffrey Simmons of Noxubee County and Kobe Jones of Starkville.
The departure of David Turner also means Dan Mullen will have replaced every member of his defensive coaching staff during this offseason. Here is where each coach has left after the 2015 season.
- Manny Diaz (Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers coach) – Miami
- Tony Hughes (Safeties and Recruiting Coordinator) – Jackson State Head Coach
- Deshea Townsend (Cornerbacks Coach) – Tennessee Titans
- David Turner (Defensive Line) – Texas A&M
The search for David Turner’s replacement will begin soon. We will keep you posted as we hear more about who might be replacing Turner in the coming days.
