Broaden Mississippi State’s recruiting radius

One of the most important aspects to the job of Peter Sirmon at USC was his role as Recruiting Coordinator. In 2015, the Trojans landed the number one recruiting class in the country.

Some would want Sirmon to be the recruiting coordinator as well, but having the responsibilities of both recruiting coordinator and defenisve coordinator would likely mean neither job would be done as well as it could be.

Peter Sirmon will have some impact on the 2016 recruiting class, but his biggest impact won’t be felt until the 2017 class. Sirmon will need to get to know the state of Mississippi and how to appeal to the top recruits in state. But the biggest difference he can make is helping expand the Bulldogs recruiting radius outside the state of Mississippi.

While there might be a lot of talent in the state that isn’t as highly regarded because so much of the talent is raw, it’s no excuse to ignore the rich recruiting soil in the states so close to Mississippi. Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas are all close enough to Mississippi that the Bulldogs need to have a bigger impact in those states.

Sirmon can bring more legitimacy to Mississippi State from a recruiting standpoint. If he does, Peter Sirmon will be worth his weight in gold.
