What will Chris Jones and Fred Ross do about the NFL?

We already know De’Runnya Wilson is headed to the NFL. Now we wait for the decisions of the next two players who have the best chance to enter the NFL Draft.

Chris Jones seems like a lock to go to the NFL and give up any remaining eligibility he has. Jones hasn’t been as productive as many of us would want him to be in his time on the Mississippi State Football team.

But the decision for Jones will be all about potential. On raw ability alone, he could be drafted as early as the second round. The third round appears to be the lowest he would go in the Draft this season.

For Ross, there isn’t anything we have seen to give us an idea about whether or not he would leave to head to the NFL right now. Despite being the more productive receiver of the two starting wideouts, Ross doesn’t have the natural physical tools Wilson does to be a top round pick.

There could be others to declare for the Draft, but most would be making an unwise decision to do so. Jones and Ross have until the middle of January to make their decision. I expect Jones to leave and Ross to stay.
