This game was a win in the conference tournament, and an exciting game, but what puts it over the top is the fact that it’ll be remembered as the “tornado game”.
The game was halted during the overtime period due to a tornado that ripped through downtown Atlanta. After a delay, the game was finished, but the final game of the night was canceled.
Georgia, who was scheduled to play that night, won two games including beating MSU the next day at Georgia Tech’s arena. UGA went on to win the tournament.
The game going into overtime most likely saved lives as fans did not exit the Georgia Dome due to the game continuing.
