#8: Dave Marler

Dave Marler only started one season for the Bulldogs, 1978, but it was a good one.

He was actually a kicker during the 1977 season, making 50% (13 of 26) of his field goals. Then in 1978 he picked up the QB duties as well and was named 1st team all-SEC.

During the ’78 season he threw for 2,422 yards. That record stood until 2012 when Tyler Russell broke it.

Since Marler only played the one year he didn’t amass too many career marks, but he is in the top 10 for season-season records such as: completions, completion %, passing yards and passing touchdowns.

He was picked in the 10th round by the Buffalo Bills in the 1979 NFL Draft. He never played in a NFL game.
