#6 2000 vs. South Carolina
The Gamecocks’ starting quarterback, Phil Petty was injured late in the 4th quarter down 19-13. The very next play (4th & 10) they bring in their backup QB to do this…
There was plenty of time left after this, but State fumbled the kickoff and USC kicked a field goal to make it 23-19. Still, it looked like MSU could come back as Wayne Madkin completed a pass inside the Gamecock 15 yard line only to have it called back for being over the line of scrimmage when he threw it. South Carolina held on for the 23-19 win.
