8. 1990 vs. #2 Auburn

In Rockey Felker’s last year as head coach he nearly upset the 2nd ranked team in the nation.

Remember that back then there were ties, so when MSU scored a touchdown as time ran out to make the game 17-16 they had a chance to tie or win the game. Felker elected to kick the extra point to tie but it was blocked and Auburn won the game.

State finished 5-6 on the year and Felker was fired.
