Dan Mullen has taken the Mississippi State Bulldogs to new  heights since his arrival in 2009. The Bulldogs secured a key victory over the Troy Trojans this past Saturday 45-17. It brought the Bulldogs to 4-2 on the season and moved the Bulldogs closer to securing bowl eligibility relatively early on during the course of the 2015 season.

The victory also marked a significant moment for Mississippi State Head Football coach Dan Mullen. The win was victory number 50 for Mississippi State under the guidance of Coach Mullen. He currently ranks third all time in wins at the school. Allyn McKeen is second on the list with 65, and Jackie Sherrill is first on the list with 75.

Depending on how many more wins Dan Mullen can lead the Bulldogs to in 2015, there could be a very real chance Coach Mullen surpasses Allyn McKeen for second on the list during the 2016 season. The most likely scenario for Dan Mullen to surpass Jackie Sherrill’s mark of 75 wins would be in three years, possibly two if the Bulldogs should win 10 or more games in 2016 and 2017 and find a way to win 6 more games during this season.

You can make an argument Dan Mullen is the best coach the school has ever had to lead their football program. Mullen’s winning percentage isn’t as high as McKeen’s but there is plenty of debate about how stiff the competition would have been while McKeen was leading the program and what that competition is like since Mullen arrived.

With all that in mind, I decided to compile a list of the top 50 wins of all time in the Dan Mullen Era.
