Standing Again – the Story of a True Bulldog Fan
By 662Dawg
Twenty-five year old Terrion Young-Frazier, was just going through his normal routines while working at the Dawg House Sports Grill in Starkville when he first started experiencing problems with his legs. On this night he was called to wash dishes and every time he would bend over to pick something up, he had to be helped up. Over the next few days he began falling over and stumbling from out of nowhere. At this point, Young-Frazier was clueless about what was going on because he had never experienced anything like this before.
Then on September 11, 2014, two days prior to Mississippi State’s game against South Alabama, Young-Frazier woke up and his legs were stiff. “I did all I could to drag myself to the bathroom but the thing was at a certain point in a squat I couldn’t get up at all and I fell in the bathroom. I had to sit there for a few cause I thought maybe I can get up in a few when my legs wake up, but I couldn’t.” Young-Frazier said.At this point Young-Frazier’s girlfriend, Felecia Hill, was struggling mightily to help him up and then luckily her niece walked in the house and together they finally helped him up.
He was taken by ambulance to OCH and later transported to Jackson UMMC and that’s when he was diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis (A granulomatous disease of unknown cause involving the central nervous system, usually with concomitant systemic involvement). After a dose of steroids he was standing with assistance. He was then allowed to be admitted in to their rehab program.
You can only imagine the things going through Young-Frazier’s mind at this time, but he continued to stay strong.
“It was the first and only Saturday that I was there. Very scared but portraying an image as if I wasn’t worried about anything but the game at LSU. Then the play came and Dak scrambled around looking for receivers and when I saw he was gone I just stood up outta nowhere. All the nurses were like “no no no” because we were all on fall risk and couldn’t be unattended” Young-Frazier said.
Young-Frazier, AKA Rion, became a huge Bulldog fan back in the JJ Johnson days and later took a liking to Dicenzo Miller, Anthony Dixon and now, of course, Dak Prescott. There’s nothing more exciting to him than a good ole Bulldog football game.
Young-Frazier has one biological child. His girlfriend has four so he considers himself a father of five. He is not able to work anymore and currently has to use a cane and be assisted when walking upstairs. “I also have a problem with standing or sitting too long. Any position that my back gets stiff is a problem. It’s a struggle everyday because I’m a musician and it is hard to invest when you are not only unemployed but temporarily disabled.” Young-Frazier said.
Yes, Young-Frazier also loves music. “My stage name is Mac Corleone. Mac stands for “Making A Change” Something I had to do when I became sick.” Young-Frazier said.
He even has his own song about his beloved Bulldogs. It’s pretty cool so you should give it a listen.
Maybe it was a miracle, maybe it wasn’t. But one thing’s for sure – this young man is strong willed with a strong mind and he has a message for the MSU football team this Saturday – #HailState beat #LSWho.
