We’ve got about two weeks until college football kicks off. So as we approach the season, why not consider who would be on the All Time team if we were compiling one. The school put their own together last year as they were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Scott Field. I have not taken a look at it recently, nor do I plan to. I want this list to be completely something on my own.

I’ve given you the entire defensive side of the ball. I’ve also hit the offensive line. Then I covered who our tight end would be. Now we got all the way outside and cover the receivers.

In today’s pass happy game of football, it’s fun to be a receiver. Combine this with the number of fast paced, up tempo offenses and receivers can rack up a lit of catches and a lot of yards in a hurry.

I wanted my All Time Team to resemble what the Bulldogs look like today. Because of that, I am putting two wide receivers on the team and a slot receiver. This means there will be no fullback. And that is going to tick a whole bunch of the more mature crowd off simply because it won’t include some fullbacks who got a lot of carries during the triple option days. So I apologize in advance.

Mardye McDoyle
Wide Receiver

Mississippi State hasn’t had a ton of highly productive receivers, but McDoyle was. In the annals of Bulldog history, there has only been one player to have more than 1,000 yards in a single season, and that season belongs to McDoyle.

He left school with the all time receiving yards record. His 21214 yards is still good for second all time at Mississippi State. his play on the filed led him to be drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 1981 Draft.

Eric Moulds
Wide Receiver

Moulds was as talented as they came. He was an explosive threat on the outside, and had there been more capable passers during Eric Moulds tenure, he might have crushed all of the Mississippi State receiving record.

Moulds racked up over 2,000 yards in his time with the Bulldogs. He added an additional threat as a kickoff returner and led the NCAA in Average Yards Per Return hi Final Season.

Moulds was a first round selection in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He played 12 seasons in the NFL, 10 of which were with the Bills. Eric Moulds was selected to three Pro Bowls and three All Pro Teams.

Chad Bumphis
Slot Receiver

The Bulldogs haven’t had a ton of players play the slot position as a regular position. Really, it’s only been two. Bumphis and Jameon Lewis are the only ones to take that role. A third player will take it on this season.

But despite that, Bumphis is certainly worthy of being on this list. Chad Bumphis is the school leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He is also second all time in receptions.

Of all the positions I have named players to, I believe this one is completely bullet proof. Though I’m sure some will try.
