For the first time since the 2011-12 basketball season, Mississippi State fans are looking forward to the Men’s Basketball season. With the hiring of Coach Ben Howland and the signing of Blue Chip Recruit Malik Newman, excitement around the basketball team is as high as it has been in years.

And now we know when and where the team will play every game this year.

The schedule was announced on the SEC Network last night. The non conference slate was already known, but now we have the conference games scheduled as well. Here is how it looks.

The first thing I noticed is the Bulldogs weren’t given any breaks coming out of the gate in SEC play. The Bulldogs open conference play in Starkville against Texas A&M. The Aggies will be a much improved team as they are bringing the 6th ranked recruiting class in 2015 with them when they travel to play the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs then hit the road for their next two games in places they have struggled, Fayetteville and Lexington. The Razorbacks were the second best team in the conference last season, and should be good again. The Wildcats, despite losing seven players to the NBA Draft, reloaded with some of the top talent in the country and will likely be a top 5 team all season long in 2015-16.

This version of the Mississippi State Men’s basketball team should be better than the previous ones. We won’t find out how much better until the games tip off. We’re jut over 2 months away from what should be an exciting season.
