9. Flag Guy and Foot-Stomping Guy

This one is a tie between the guy with the bulldog flag at football games and the intense ref hater at basketball games.

I don’t know either one of their names, but they are definitely recognizable.

Flag guy is always waving that bulldog flag. Sometimes I wonder what the people sitting behind him must think. But he continues on year after year, and many times like above you’ll see his flag waving out above the crowd as a tradition at Scott Field.

I don’t have a picture of foot-stomping guy, but you know who I’m talking about. He’s got mostly gray hair, maybe late 50s, early 60s, and he sits near the goal on the lower level opposite the band. It doesn’t matter what the call is, if it went against MSU he is standing up, face beet red and stomping his feet as he yells at the refs for a bad call. The Dawgs have never made a foul according to this guy – it’s great! The veins popping out of this guy’s neck are intense. I remember being in college and watching us play a mediocre non-conference game, up by 20 points and he’s still giving the refs a hard time. Relentless effort.
