There are a lot of MSU fans out there. They range from the super casual (just have a Bulldog t-shirt because their spouse has a cousin who went to State) to the intense hardcore fans that go to every sporting event, and all in between. 99.9% of State fans remain anonymous among the masses of maroon-clad faithful, and then there’s the 0.1% of people like me who are a little off their rocker and put themselves out there.

This list is for this 0.1%. Actually for the 0.1% of the 0.1% who have stepped into such a role among the Mississippi State fan base that they’ve gathered some measure of fame because of it.

These are the people you’ve seen before at sporting events in Starkville, or you’ve heard about them on the internet. Their passion for MSU runs so deep they can’t help but be noticed.

Before we start, I’ll say I eliminated two people because they have parlayed their fandom into careers covering MSU:

  1. Gene Swindoll – his website, genespage.com, was started in 1996 because he was a fan who wanted more information on the Bulldogs. He is definitely the pioneer in MSU internet websites as his message board grew and grew and grew until the point he has several thousand subscribers. Today Gene’s Page is part of the Scout.com network of sites and he has two full time writers working for him.
  2. Brian Hadad – Six Pack Speak lifer turned podcast co-host turned GM of Bulldog Sports Radio. Like Swindoll, he was in a field completely unrelated to sports but was able to turn covering MSU into a career.

We’ll start with number 10 on the next slide.
