4. Nick Turner
2002 Signing Class

Turner was also a part of the 2002 signing class Darren Williams headlined. Turner was another big name from that class who simply didn’t pan out.

Nick Turner’s career got off to a bad start. In the middle of his freshman season, Turner was arrested for trying to use counterfeit $100 dollar bills. Jackie Sherrill suspended the highly regarded recruit for the second half of the season in 2002. Turner would be reinstated after the felony charge was reduced in 2003.

Turner’s sophomore year was pretty decent. He edged out Jerious Norwood for the team lead in rushing yards with just under 700 in 2003. But Turner couldn’t keep his nose clean. Nick Turner missed numerous workouts after Croom was hired and missed a mandatory meeting with the new Head Coach. Turner would only last three months under Croom before he was dismissed.
