Commodore Bob’s versus The Camphouse

We’re moving on in the Great Starkville Restaurant Challenge with two restaurants that are relatively new to the scene in the Starkville area. First we have Commodore Bob’s Yacht Club, which is located in the heart of the Cotton District. They will be going up against The Camphouse which is in the old “Halfway House” location, and has a new menu to reflect the new attitude of the location. Both of these Starkville restaurants are great places to eat and relax in Starkville, but we want to know which you think is the best.

Commodore Bob’s Yacht Club

Located just behind the main strip of bars within the Cotton District, Commodore Bob’s Yacht Club provides a unique experience within the hustle and bustle of the Cotton District. With something on the menu for everyone, Commodore Bob’s will bring you away from the craziness outside to calm you down and allow you to enjoy the food they give you.

Their menu features some items like Pimento Cheese Stuffed Bella, Blackened Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Croque Monsieur. Then you have Bob’s Burger which consists of turkey, pork, spinach, tomato relish, onion, homemade pickles, mayo, mustard, and fries. For more information on Commodore Bob’s Yacht club, you can visit their website.

The Camphouse

Located across the street from Stromboli’s in the old Halfway House location, The Camphouse is Starkville’s newest sports bar providing service to Mississippi State students and fans alike. The new ownership has completely changed some things, and provide a relaxed atmosphere for patrons to wind down after a long day. With an outdoor patio complete with a fire pit for those cold evenings, The Camphouse is the place to go if you need a place to sit down, have a beer, and relax in town.

Their menu covers a lot of bases, and they provide the feeling that you’re in the middle of the wood camping out while someone cooks up some food for you over an open fire. They also provide some really good desserts for you to enjoy at the end, including their turtle cheescakes that are served in tumbler glasses, and their key lime parfaits served in champagne glasses.
