Message Boards are a great place to go and discuss all things related to sports in general, whether it’s college, pro, or something else altogether. The one thing about them though is that it can become apparent at times some fans are completely consumed in their fandom and don’t pay too much attention to reality. We are all guilty of that at some point. So now we have the Message Board Post of the Week. Each week, I will go through some of the more popular message boards and find some good ones. Understand that good can mean a lot of things. It could mean insightful. It could mean it’s so bad it’s funny. It could mean that it is based on so many false perceptions that you can’t help but sit there and stare at your screen with your jaw dropped. These will all come from the public pages of the message boards, so I won’t be breaking any perceived privacy that someone might think they have.

No, you’re not reading the title of this post incorrectly. Someone claiming to be a Mississippi State fan on the Mississippi State Forum at SEC Rant started a thread entitled FIRE MULLEN. He goes by TaxmanMSU. Here is what he had to say (and it’s pretty salty, so consider yourself warned).

"We’ve pussyfooted around the entire second half of the season. His playcalling sucks dick. My fricking dog’s bowel movements are more unpredictable than Dan Mullen’s offense.ETA: this 1a and 1b bull shite is for the birds."

Granted, this was posted right after the Egg Bowl loss, but it seems like a pretty severe Prisoner of the Moment jump. There were lots of problems in the Egg Bowl and Bama game, but are we really wanting to fire a coach who led us to 10 wins in the regular season for the first time in school history? An Alabama fan named Hardy Har added some to Taxman’s discussion.

"Defense lost that game. Made a busted, light assed OM squad look like an all star dynasty team on NCAA 2014 XBOX1"

The offense wasn’t great, but Hardy Har is right. The defense had more to do with the loss in the Egg Bowl than anything else. weedGOKU666 also had thoughts that were similar.

"We made Jaylen “435 Rushing Yards” Walton look like Barry Sanders."

Someone who goes by BulldogXero, who talks like a Bulldog but lists on his profile that he is an LSU fan, either went all Prisoner of the Moment as well or is just showng how confused he really is.

"There are some serious questions on the defensive side of the football that I hope Mullen finds answers to by next season.I don’t care if it takes a coaching change. A performance like that has to have a negative effect on recruits looking to come to MSU.As for Mullen, the offensive playcalling was atrocious. It was clear Ole Miss was going to stop the run as early as the second quarter, but we kept pounding the football. The only time the run game started to open up would be when we would open up the passing game. Also, Dak’s progress as a QB is seriously worrying to me. When running, he looks incredibly slow and doesn’t appear to be the least bit elusive. He’s not showing the same toughness that he showed earlier in the season. His passing is awful. He was throwing to wide open receivers just 10 yards down field as if they were 10 feet tall. When he wasn’t able to run the ball, he did not look comfortable as a passer at all. Bo Wallace stole that show."

There are so many things in that response, I don’t even know where to begin. Thankfully, StarkvilleTigerFan brought this conversation to an end.

"Hey-we got our asses kicked-its over-“Wormer dropped the big one”….get over it and lets hope we have an enjoyable bowl experience!!!"

I wondered after the Egg Bowl if there was going to be any really extreme reactions to the game. I hadn’t seen any the first few days until I came along this gem. Wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not.
