The Way I See It – Week 13 College Football Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

Talk about licking your wounds.  Not only did State tumble last week 25-20, I went 1-4, which is about as bad as I’ve ever done with my picks.  But, so is life as its time to dust ourselves off and regroup.  There’s no time for whining or complaining as we have only two weeks to go in the regular season.

It’s a big two weeks so let’s jump right to it.

Last Week: 1-4

 Yearly Predictions: 38-24

No. 19 Missouri at Tennessee

Who would’ve thunk it – Gary Pinkel and the Missouri Tigers are on the brink of back to back Eastern Division Championships in the SEC.  The Tigers currently hold a one game lead over Georgia, but have zero room for error.

One slip up and Georgia is in the club house with the win.  Pinkel has done a great job with this team, but must do his best coaching job the next two weeks.  This week he plays a Tennessee team needing one win for bowl eligibility.  It should be a show stopper in Knoxville.

No. 15 Arizona at No. 20 Utah

Arizona tries to keep pace with USC in the South Division of the Pac-12 this weekend, needing the Trojans to slip up so they can advance to the Championship Game.

Rich Rodriguez has revitalized the Wildcats and looks to take them a notch higher.  Utah will be gunning for their eighth win of the season and looks to jockey for a higher bowl or extreme divisional chaos.

Vanderbilt at No. 4 Mississippi State

Vanderbilt heads to Davis Wade Stadium for the final home game of the 2014 season for the Bulldogs.  This is a no brainier pick, but Mississippi State needs to play well and win convincingly to hang on to the number four spot in the college football playoff.  Dak Prescott has shown superb leadership skills throughout the year and you should look for Prescott and the Bulldogs to bounce back in a big way this weekend.

No. 24 USC at No. 11 UCLA

It’s the annual SoCal showdown between the Trojans of USC and the Golden Bears of UCLA.  This ball game has huge implications this year in the Pac-12 South Division as there is a log jam at the top between USC, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and Utah.

The Trojans can make everything right with a win, but a loss turns the division upside down.

Chaos ensues.

No. 8 Mississippi at Arkansas

It’s the Houston Nutt Bowl as Ole Miss takes on Arkansas this Saturday in what could be flat out nasty weather.  Temperatures are dropping, sleet or rain is expected and that spells bad news for most teams.

If there ever was a game MSU fans needed an Ole Miss win, it’s this weekend due to the Bulldogs playoff positioning and needing to be a highly ranked Rebel team next week.

But, this game is going to be the LSU game all over again for Ole Miss, except Arkansas has a better quarterback than LSU, Treadwell is not on the field and Arkansas is now playing for bowl eligibility.

Nobody knows what the Ole Miss offense will look like with Treadwell gone, but we know Arkansas will, as always, be physical and come right at you.  As bad as State needs a Rebel victory, I can’t see it happening.
