Week 10 SEC Power Rankings

It’s not always easy to win. Sometimes you just have to work and grind the victory out. Mississippi State, Auburn, and Alabama discovered this on Saturday. Ole Miss discovered this and that Death Valley at night is still one of the hardest places to win. So there has definitely been a shakeup in the Power Rankings. And here is what they were last week.

  1. Mississippi State Bulldogs 7-0 (Last Week 1) We won. And our quarterback didn’t have his A game, and we still won. That isn’t always easy to do. Ole Miss can attest to that.
  2. Auburn Tigers 6-1 (Last Week 3) The Tigers squeaked out a victory over the Gamecocks, but they won. That’s all that matters sometimes.
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide 7-1 (Last Week 4) The Tide got lazy and almost let the Vols get back in their game. They hung on and won the game. Once again, that’s all that matters.
  4. LSU Tigers 7-2 (Last Week6) The Tigers have some much needed confidence. They could be a really dangerous team from here on out. They get a week off before they host Alabama. A win against the Tide could throw the SEC West into complete pandemonium.
  5. Georgia Bulldogs 6-1 (Last Week 5) Had they played this week, they probably would have moved up. But they didn’t and LSU deserved to go up based off of their win.
  6. Ole Miss Rebels 7-1 (Last Week 2) I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the Rebels. Yes, they beat Alabama, but when you have to rely on your offense to win games, and you only get one score, you got problems. They’re still a good team, but they have to figure out how to get their offense going.
  7. Missouri Tigers 6-2 (Last Week 8) The Tigers could still sneak their way into the SEC Championship game. All they gotta do is get Auburn to beat Georgia. They win all their games, and a crappy team is in the SEC Championship Game.
  8. Kentucky 5-3 (Last Week 7) They played really well against the number 1 ranked team in the country. It still wasn’t enough. It just goes to show how difficult beating the number 1 team in the country is.
  9. Texas A&M Aggies 5-3 (Last Week 9) There probably wasn’t another team in the SEC that needed a bye week than the Aggies.
  10. Arkansas Razorbacks 4-4 (Last Week 11) The Razorbacks pick up their fourth win and will try to end their SEC losing streak against the Bulldogs next week. I’d like their chances better if they had played State in their first game as number 1.
  11. South Carolina Gamecocks 3-5 (Last Week 10) The Gamecocks have talent, but getting this team to put it all together looks to be an impossible task. They played well against Auburn, but not well enough.
  12. Tennessee Volunteers 3-5 (Last Week 12) The Volunteers had some positive things happen in the game against the Tide. They will be good eventually, but it’s going to be in a year or two.
  13. Florida Gators 3-3 (Last Week 13) The Gators had a week off to lick their wounds.
  14. Vanderbilt Commodores 2-6 (Last Week 14) Hard to believe that this team had become a serious and respectable team last year. Far from that this year.

The top half of the SEC is as good as there is in college football. Is it possible the SEC champ has two losses this year? It might. Beating one of those seven teams on the road will not be done easily, and if it happens, we better start cheering for a whole bunch of two loss teams in the rest of the country.
