ESPN College GameDay is Coming!

Apparently, there are two ways to get ESPN’s College GameDay to visit your campus. You can either beg them for twenty years, or you can Just Win, Baby, Win!

It turns out just winning takes exactly one week longer than the twenty years of begging.

Chris Fowler from GameDay told us that it was possible last week, if umiss didn’t take care of business against Memphis.

They did (in at least one quarter), however, and got GameDay in the grove. The Mississippi State faithful had to settle for SEC Nation — which was awesome! ESPN must have liked what they saw of The Junction and on the field in Starkville, though. College GameDay is staying in Mississippi for the second consecutive week for our possible top 5 matchup (We’re #6 in Coaches.) with the Auburn Tigers.

Granted, yesterday probably was the biggest day in Mississippi college football history with umiss taking down #3 Alabama and State whooping #6 Texas A&M and both ESPN College GameDay and SEC Nation on site in the state, but this coming Saturday may be even bigger for Mississippi State.

This may be the first ever top 5 matchup game in Scott Field’s 100 years. We know it will be the first time ever that Mississippi State has played in a College GameDay game, much less hosted. The maroon-clad, cowbell-clanging Maroon & White Nation showed up and showed out yesterday for SEC Nation. Now how will we up the ante for GameDay? The weather next week may be much less agreeable. I think, though, that we’re going to have to tough it out, show up with signs and cowbells, and be turnt up for College GameDay!

This does beg the question, however… Who will be the guest picker in Starkville? It would be hard to do worse than a pink fur jersey-wearing pop star throwing corndogs and dry-humping a bear in a football uniform. Will Clark would be a good one. Jerry Rice showed up yesterday. Lots of possibilities. It would be a hard decision.

I have a suggestion!

Wouldn’t you love to see Mister “More Cowbell” Bruce Dickinson — Christopher Walken take on Lee Corso, Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and company?

I know I would! AND I believe Bulldawg Nation might just have the cure for that nagging fever!

Hail State!
