Week 2 was a week of less than stellar matchups for the SEC.  The only game between SEC teams was Ole Miss traveling to Vanderbilt. Everyone else had games scheduled against lesser opponents. Some handled their opponent better than others, but ultimately, the week played out pretty much the way we expected so no movement in the rankings. Here is last week’s rankings if you need a refresher.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs, 1-0 (Last Week 1): Georgia had a bye week in week 2, so they were staying at the top regardless.
  2. Texas A&M Aggies, 2-0 (Last Week 2): The Aggies took care of business against Lamar
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide, 2-0 (Last Week 3): Alabama was so dominant, that Mother Nature forced them into a mercy rule against Florida Atlantic.
  4. LSU Tigers, 2-0 (Last Week 4): LSU completely dismantled Sam Houston State. Much more like we thought they would be in week 1.
  5. Auburn Tigers, 2-0 (Last Week 5): Auburn looked really good in their big win over San Jose State.
  6. Mississippi State Bulldogs, 2-0 (Last Week 6): I considered dropping the Bulldogs a spot, but I don’t think the performance was bad enough coupled with Tennessee not being as dominant as some thought against Arkansas State. The Bulldogs stay put for now, but we are hoping the big plays by UAB are a fluke and not a sign of things to come.
  7. Tennessee Volunteers, 2-0 (Last Week 7): The Red Wolves of Arkansas State gave the Vols a run for their money, but Tennessee pulled away at the end.
  8. Ole Miss Rebels, 2-0 (Last Week 8): The Rebels needed to dominate Vanderbilt, and that is exactly what they did.
  9. Missouri Tigers, 2-0 (Last Week 9): The Tigers reminded us that they are the defending SEC East champs with a pretty convincing win over Toledo.
  10. Kentucky Wildcats, 2-0 (Last Week 10): Kentucky didn’t look quite as good against Ohio as they did against UT Martin. A win is a win though.
  11. South Carolina Gamecocks, 1-1 (Last Week 11): I keep waiting for a reason to move the Gamecocks up a spot or two, and they just keep giving me reasons to leave them here. Hung on to beat East Carolina.
  12. Florida Gators, 1-0 (Last Week 12): Florida finally got to play, and showed that they do actually have an offense in a 65-0 thrashing of Eastern Michigan.
  13. Arkansas Razorbacks, 1-1 (Last Week 13): From Bielema: SEE! BIG 10 OFFENSE DOESN’T SUCK! YOU GUYS ARE ALL A BUNCH WORTHLESS HATERS! Razorbacks romped Nicholls State.
  14. Vacant
  15. Vanderbilt Commodores, 0-2 (Last Week 15): All I asked for was some sign of a pulse. A measly field goal when you trail 41-0 is not a sign of a pulse.

The slate of games is much better next week, so I expect there to be some movement after we the games are done then. Be sure to check back next week to see how the outcomes determine the movement in our power rankings.
