Week One was expected to be a dominant performance by the Bulldogs, and that is exactly what we got. A 49-0 drubbing of Southern Miss gave fans lots to cheer about at newly renovated Davis Wade Stadium. The Bulldogs played about as well as you would expect, but it doesn’t mean they were perfect. There were some mental mistakes. The big question is if those mistakes were some that were indicative of bigger problems, or if they were just first game jitters and rustiness that showed up. Since I am a teacher for my regular job, it only makes sense that I hand out some grades and give the Bulldogs a Report Card to take home. I will hand out grades for the offense, defense, special teams, and coaching staff.

We will do this each week on Maroon and White Nation. You can check back here every Sunday night to see how we grade the team in general. This week, the team is going to get mostly positive marks. It should stay that way until week 4 when we play LSU, but that is no guarantee. There is a reason that we actually play the game, and don’t just give teams wins and losses based on who shows up on the schedule. So lets break down where each unit stacks up. Since everyone loves high powered offenses, we might as well start there and see how they did as a unit.
