I like to get my predictions out there for the record, so here goes….

Mississippi State: 8-4

I’m sure I’ll catch a little grief there with this being a Mississippi State site, but this is my objective prediction. My heart says we can go 9-3 or 10-2, but I’m going to have to see State beat a legit top 15 team before I am willing to predict it is going to happen. After weighing all the evidence and sifting through all the details I just have a hard time pulling the trigger on any big games except Texas A&M. So unfortunately, yes, I am predicting a loss in the Egg Bowl. The home team has won 13 of the last 15 games and by the time the end of the year rolls around Ole Miss’ inexperienced depth will be experienced so I don’t think it will be a factor – the two teams will be even but the game is in Oxford.

SEC Predictions

WEST

1. Alabama, 7-1 (11-1) – only loss to LSU
2. LSU, 6-2 (10-2) – if they survive Wisconsin and MSU early they should be right back at double digit wins
3. Auburn, 5-3 (9-3) – that schedule is just too difficult, they could be better than last year but have at least seven games where they could lose
4. Ole Miss, 5-3 (9-3) – burn me at the stake if you need to, but I’m not going to buy in that they are overrated….unless Dr. Bo gets hurt
5. MSU, 4-4 (8-4) – there is a chance to jump as high as 2nd in the West, we’ll know a lot come Sunday, September 21
6. A&M, 2-6 (6-6) – going to a bowl by the skin of their teeth
7. Arkansas, 1-7 (4-8) – I don’t think Bielema’s system is going to win them any West titles but he is a good coach, they will continue to improve and I dare say knock off LSU

EAST

1. Georgia, 7-1 (11-1) – only loss to Missouri
2. South Carolina, 7-1 (11-1) – fantastic year but I’m calling for UGA to beat them in Columbia
3. Missouri, 5-3 (9-3) – not as good as last year but still good, and the schedule is conducive to a lot of W’s
4. Florida, 4-4 (7-5) – a little bit of a bounce back but they aren’t back
5. Vanderbilt, 1-7 (5-7) – ‘Dores take a step back this year
6. Kentucky, 1-7 (4-8) – they’ll fight hard all year and be in some games
7. Tennessee, 1-7 (3-9) – I don’t like the Vols at all this year; I’m giving them the UK game at home but that’s it

SEC champ: Georgia – I like their offense a lot, the defense should be much much improved. I really like Georgia this year and I’m only picking them to loss to Missouri in Week 6 because it’s just so hard to go undefeated in the SEC.

College Football Playoff
