Number 7: The UT Martin Skyhawks
The UT Martin Skyhawks take the field against the Bulldogs on November 8 as the Homecoming opponent. The Skyhawks are this year’s FCS opponent, and it should be a game that the Bulldogs put away pretty quickly. These games are usually wrapped up by SEC teams before halftime and lots of times before the 1st quarter is over.
So is there any reason to be concerned? Maybe a little. As we told you in our Summer game preview, the Skyhawks have former Bulldog Dylan Favre leading the offensive attack. There is nothing that would make Favre happier than to walk on to Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium and pull off the upset against the team that he left because he knew he wasn’t going to get the playing time that he believed he deserved. The one thing we know about the Favres is that they play with a giant chip on their shoulder.
Upset Chance: 1% Yes, Favre will want to win this game badly, but the Skyhawks are going to be completely over matched. They might be able to keep it close for a quarter, but there isn’t any reason to really believe that UT Martin will be able to do anything outside of getting the game past the 1st quarter as a competitive game.
