If you’ve been to a game at Davis Wade this year you know the video board has been drowning the life out of the stadium. I’ve written about it twice this season, HERE and HERE. Based on the unusually large number of page views those two articles received, I know ya’ll agree too.

I did not attend the game last night, but I’ve heard it was the worst it’s ever been. Here’s what Flabloser wrote about his experience on SixPackSpeak:

"So pregame they showed some Auburn – UGA. OK. Teams warm up. FMB does their pregame show. 10 minutes plus left before kickoff, and…..10 solid minutes of one commercial after another. There is no cable or sat TV channel that shows more commercials in 10 minutes than we saw in pregame. I hoped we were smart enough to meet some quota early so we could legitimately use our board later. Wrong. All game long, every timeout…COMMERCIALS. There was no game awareness at all in the use of the video board. COMMERCIALS COMMERCIALS COMMERCIALS.And when there wasn’t a commercial, it was time to get in the quota of family friendly things – Kiss Cam, Future Bulldog (show cute kids), etc.No game context, no game awareness. Just relentless COMMERCIALS ALL GAME LONG.I know we bitch about this a lot. But trust me tonight was different. It was RELENTLESS AND PERSISTENT. The the point of being embarassing.I’ve never liked commercials. But this was different. This was enough to make me not want to go to another game.Video board guy should not have a job on Monday. This was insane. Something was up. I’m not sure what. Maybe we had a quota to meet. Maybe the regular guy was sick and a Learfield guy filled in.Guys…it was …I’m out of words. I’ve never liked it, but I’ve ever been actually pissed about it. It was just a new level of COMMERCIALS ALL THE DAMN TIME"

Some good news though, Scott Stricklin acknowledged the video board is a detriment to the atmosphere at MSU football games on Twitter this morning. Hopefully this is resolved in 2014, and the video board enhanced the experience instead of killing the atmosphere.
