SEC Résumé Rankings – Week 9

Here are last week’s rankings.

1. Alabama – Wow, what a great team. They are scary good. They

beat

creamed their first ranked SEC team of the year on Saturday.

2. LSU – Well, here it is…we get to the week of the LSU/Bama game and they find themselves 1,2 on these rankings. Wins over South Carolina and Texas A&M get them here.

3. Georgia – The big mover this week. Beating Florida is a big time win and will in all likelihood land them the SEC East for the second straight year. They’ve got the next four games to become a solid to the core team that could possibly beat Alabama – they’ve got the talent but they don’t execute.

4. Florida – The Gators résumé is better than Georgia’s but you can’t deny head-to-head when both teams have the same record. This is still a solid team, but no team who commits six turnovers in a big game is ready for a national championship.

5. South Carolina – I feel for Marcus Lattimore, seems like a great kid. Their brutal October is over, and they have just three games left, only one in the SEC: UPig.

6. Mississippi State – The Dawgs still haven’t beaten anyone with a SEC win, but they still have a 7-1 record. A&M coming to Starkville next weekend is a huge game in terms of the SEC West and bowl pecking order.

7. Texas A&M – This is a really good team. Their only losses have been to Florida and LSU. But they do have two of them, and they came at home.

8. Mississippi – Good grief, Freeze. Why did you have to come in here and breathe life into this program? The Rebels are 5-3. Last four games: at UGA, vs. Vandy, at LSU, vs. MSU.

9. Vanderbilt – The ‘Dores are gaining steam and we enter the home stretch. They should get another win next week at UK.

10. Arkansas – The Hogs don’t move down any because everyone else has shown even less than them. Bowl chances: zero.

11. Missouri – Congrats on your first SEC win. Now bend over and take a few more beatings before the year is up. Next: Florida.

12. Tennessee – How in the world can UT fall down to 12? Front load the schedule and start 0-5 in conference. That said, they should be able to run the table and get back near the middle of the pack.

14. Auburn – I think Gene Chizik’s game plan this week was, ‘what can I do to ensure that I’ll be fired?’

14. Kentucky – Both of these teams were listed as 14th because they are so awful they need to get as far away from everyone else as possible.

It definitely looks like Georgia vs. Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. But LSU will certainly have something to say about it this weekend in Baton Rouge. There is still a month of football left to play, I wish there was more. It’s hard to believe we are 2/3 through the year, it goes so fast.
