The Mississippi State football team will play one less home game in 2016, but fans buying season tickets will have to pay the same price as seven home games.

With the Mississippi State football team having one less home game due to Tulane cancelling their contract with the Bulldogs, season ticket holders were probably looking forward to paying less for their tickets in 2016. Those fans were greeted to a rude awakening this afternoon.

Here is how Rob found out he was going to have to pay the same amount.

While it isn’t what people are hoping to hear, this isn’t the first time the school has charged the same amount for one less game on the Mississippi State football schedule. As a matter of fact, the school actually increased prices in 2011 with one less game on the home slate. That could easily be explained away though due to the significantly improved play in 2010 and a greater demand for season tickets.

Prices went up again in 2015, but once again, the price increase could be due to the success of the program in 2014. With the Mississippi State football team hosting some of the bigger name opponents in 2017 (LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss) and a higher profile nonconference opponent in BYU, prices might go up again.

Rob was the first person I saw to express his displeasure with having to pay the same amount for less games. I feel confident he won’t be the last.
