Looking back over time, while Mississippi State has had it’s fair share of football success on the gridiron – they to have suffered some epic defeats.

You know those defeats right?  Those games where you are on cloud nine high- fiving your buddy or hugging your significant other, then just when you thought victory was yours, it was taken from you like a thief in the night.

Number Five – 2011 Auburn Game:

In 2011, Mississippi State traveled to the Plains to take on Auburn in what would end up being a shootout, with the Tigers winning the game 41-34.  The Bulldogs have had many a heart break on the Plains and this one stung immensely.  The Bulldogs drove down inside the Tiger 10-yard line with an opportunity to tie or take the lead as time was expiring, but it was the Tiger defense that kept Mississippi State quarterback Chris Relf out of the endzone, prompting the talk of “Dan Mullen can’t win the big game”.
