The Way I See It – Week Eleven

facebooktwitterreddit

Just like Mississippi State, I am finding my stride at just the right time, posting a perfect 5-0 last week, but this week presents a ton of new challenges for everyone on the gridiron.  Games start to become elimination games from big time post season play, teams start fighting for bowl eligibility and drama unfolds.  It’s Halloween weekend so hold on to your hats, it could get interesting.

 Last Week: 5-0

 Yearly Predictions: 31-17

No. 2 Florida State at Louisville (Thursday night)

Florida State defeated Notre Dame two weeks ago and when you look down their schedule there just aren’t many other road blocks from the Noles getting to the college football playoff.  However – this game is one that could slip up and bite Jimbo Fishers club.

Its Thursday night action at Papa John’s Stadium and Bobby Patrino would love to get his Cardinals back on the college football map.

This game should go down to the wire and be one heck of a football game.  Look for the Cardinals to show up and their fans to show out.  Its Thursday night football and they will shock the Noles.

Stanford at No. 6 Oregon

It’s another Pac-10 battle and the annual slugfest between Stanford and Oregon.  While Stanford is a notch below where they are used to being, this should still be one heck of a game.

The Ducks are clawing and scratching, trying to get back in the college football playoff picture.

Stanford has won two straight in this series and did so by being more physical than Oregon.  Oregon has had some issues with physical teams thus far this season and while they are playing at home, look for Stanford to shock the Ducks once again.

Florida versus No. 9 Georgia

It’s the worlds largest cocktail par—errrrr  ballgame! Heck I don’t know what they call this now since the politically correct crew dialed in on the name, but nonetheless this game doesn’t have quite the luster it use to .

Florida is coming off a bye-week and trying to salvage head coach Will Muschamp’s job, while Georgia is trying to lock up the SEC East and get to Atlanta.  Georgia is the one SEC team many are not talking about in the college football playoff, but if they can win the conference, they are in.  This will be the straw that breaks the back of Muschamp.

No. 4 Auburn at No. 7 Ole Miss

It’s an SEC West elimination ball game in Oxford this weekend, as the loser will be out of championship contention, while the winner could still punch their ticket to Atlanta.

The Rebels will be looking to find their offensive ways this weekend, while Auburn will look to continue to exploit weaknesses along the Rebel front line(s).

Auburn is giving up a ton of yards, but producing a ton as well.  Ole Miss has the best defense in the country so it will be a true match of wits and skill.

Auburn will be the most complete offensive team Ole Miss will have faced up to this point and the Tigers have the athletes to continue to frustrate the Rebels enough on offense.  It’s close but no cigar in Oxford.

Arkansas at No. 1 Mississippi State

Mississippi State travels home to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks and for the Bulldogs; it will be the first time in the history of the program that a “State Team” will walk on Scott Field as the nation’s top program.

The Bulldogs played sloppy and lethargic at times last week, but anytime you can play well beyond your best and still win on the road, you have a great football team.

The Bulldogs are averaging right at 500-total yards per game and 40-points per game, not to mention, Arkansas loves to run the football, which should play right into the strength of Mississippi State’s defense.

The Bulldogs look to go 8-0 for the first time since 1999 and should do so on Saturday.
