Week 9 in the SEC

facebooktwitterreddit

MSU 28, UK 22 – over and done with we already know the Bulldogs have been victorious in Week 9 before we enter the Saturday slate. State was unable to cover the 10 point spread but that doesn’t really matter so long as we get the win. I’ll have more on this game later this weekend. But for the purposes of this post I’ll continue with what’s in store around the league…

11:21: Vanderbilt at #16 Texas A&M (-17), SEC Network

Can Vandy pull out another big win? Will the Aggies stub their toe again? It looks like Las Vegas doesn’t think so. Incredibly, aTm is 2-4 vs. the SEC at home since joining the league (6-0 on the road).

2:30: Tennessee at #1 Alabama (-28), CBS

28 point for UT, that is very tempting to take if I was a betting man. Bama spreads are always high because their fans think they’ll crush everyone….although that is, in fact, usually the case. You never know if Tennessee will give them a good game, this is still a big rivalry…even though Bama has a long winning streak they hate UT and vice versa. 2009’s game in T town required a couple of blocked FG’s from Mount Cody to preserve the Tide’s undefeated, national championship season.

6:00: Furman at #13 LSU, ESPN3

Get back on track game for LSU. They still haven’t had a bye week while MSU and UK have already had two. They do get one next week in prep for Bama.

6:00: #21 South Carolina at #5 Missouri (-3), ESPN2

This is really the game of the week. Can Mizzou do it again? Conner Shaw may not be available, but of course James Franklin is out for the Tigers. If Mizzou can win this one they’ll essentially lock up the SEC East needing just one more win to clinch the division. South Carolina could get themselves back in the race – they are two games back now but this would give them the tiebreaker and Mizzou has some tough games still to play in the SEC. If Mizzou does win, it will be interesting heading into next week when State heads to Columbia, SC to play a Gamecock team that has lost two in a row and is out of the top 25.

6:30: Florida Atlantic at #11 Auburn (23.5), FSN

It looks like Aubie will be 7-1. Wow. They may be able to get on a roll here will FAU, UPig, UT before hosting Georgia. Things are looking great on the plains right now.

6:30: Idaho at Ole Miss (-41), ESPN3

Yawner. This will be another boost to Ole Miss’ quest to become bowl eligible for the second straight year will is pretty much a certainty at this point.
