Mississippi State football needs to do a lot of work in the transfer portal this offseason. After going 2-10 in 2024, largely because of insufficient talent, Jeff Lebby and his staff have to bring in a bevy of highly-talented transfers over the coming weeks if they're going to field an improved team in 2025.
Of course the flipside is that there will be lots of players that leave the Bulldog program, and you can keep track of which players choose to transfer out of Mississippi State here...

Mississippi State is going to be adding a lot of new faces to their roster through the transfer portal. Here's where you can keep up with all the action regarding transfers that are looking to become Bulldogs. We'll provide updates on transfers that take visits to Starkville and, obviously, the players that ultimately choose to commit to Mississippi State.
January 6 - Northern Illinois transfer wide receiver Cam Thompson commits to Mississippi State
The Bulldogs added another WR to the roster and a third transfer from Northern Illinois. 6-0, 198 Cam Thompson comes to MSU after a productive year for the Huskies. Thompson was one of NIU's top wideouts with 28 catches for 391 yards and three scores plus a kick return TD. He's a fluid runner that works well in open space.
January 3 - Marian transfer cornerback Dwight Lewis III commits to Mississippi State
State dipped into the NAIA ranks for their second transfer corner. Dwight Lewis III was a two-time all-league performer for Marian and garnered power conference attention once he hit the portal. The 6-1, 195 defensive back chose the Bulldogs over Wisconsin and Arizona.
December 30 - Coastal Carolina transfer defensive lineman Will Whitson commits to Mississippi State
State picked up its best DL transfer so far ahead of the new year in former Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Will Whitson. The 6-5, 285 defensive tackle had strong production during his time in Conway, and is considered one of the most underrated DL prospects in the portal.
December 27 - Northern Illinois transfer defensive end Raishien Thomas commits to Mississippi State
State adds another edge rusher. NIU transfer Raishien Thomas committed to the Bulldogs. The 6-4, 262 lineman put up an impressive 198 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks in his Husky career and was on for pace for a huge season before choosing to redshirt after four games.
December 26 - Auburn transfer defensive lineman Darron Reed commits to Mississippi State
Another big piece for the interior of the defense. 6-4, 285 defensive tackle Darron Reed chose MSU after beginning his college career at Auburn. The RS freshman has seen minimal playing time in two years at Auburn but was a former Top 100 recruit out of high school.
December 24 - South Alabama transfer running back Fluff Bothwell commits to Mississippi State
The Bulldogs picked up a talented young RB in South Alabama transfer Fluff Bothwell. The 5-11, 219 power back ran for 832 yards and 13 TDs on 7.5 YPC as a true freshman in 2024.
December 22 - Eastern Michigan transfer offensive lineman Carson Lee commits to Mississippi State
State's third offensive lineman commitment is EMU interior lineman Carson Lee. A two year starter for the Eagles, the 6-2, 307 Lee can play both center and guard. He began his career at Colorado.
December 22 - Kentucky transfer offensive lineman Koby Keenum commits to Mississippi State
Former Kentucky lineman Koby Keenum is a Bulldog. Keenum, originally a center, saw action in 11 games for the Wildcats as a redshirt freshman in 2024. The 6-4, 302 Keenum could play either center or guard for MSU.
December 22 - Texas A&M transfer edge rusher Malick Sylla commits to Mississippi State
More help at pass rusher for State. Texas A&M transfer Malick Sylla is a Bulldog. The 6-5, 230 edge rusher has 26 tackles and 4.0 sacks in his career.
December 21 - Texas transfer defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe commits to Mississippi State
State gets SEC-caliber help along the defensive line. 6-4, 290 DT Jaray Bledsoe commits to the Bulldogs after three seasons with Texas. He is a former 4-star recruit.
December 19 - Tennessee transfer linebacker Jalen Smith commits to Mississippi State
This is a big one for State. 6-2, 230 LB Jalen Smith has transferred to MSU after two years at Tennessee. Smith was in the regular LB rotation for the Vols, recording 34 tackles as RS freshman in 2024.
December 18 - Texas transfer linebacker Derion Gullette commits to Mississippi State
State adds a SEC transfer at LB. Texas transfer Derion Gullette adds a talented option to the LB room. The 6-3, 235 Gullette is a former 4-star recruit and spent his first two seasons of college in Austin.
December 17 - Florida State transfer quarterback Luke Kromenhoek commits to Mississippi State
Jeff Lebby has filled out his QB room with another very talented prospect. FSU transfer Luke Kromenhoek committed to the Bulldogs after spending his true freshman season in Tallahassee. Kromenhoek was an elite HS prospect and was considered one of the top available transfer QBs.
December 16 - James Madison transfer offensive tackle Jesse Ramil commits to Mississippi State
State picks up its first OL commit of the transfer class. JMU tackle Jesse Ramil has committed to the Bulldogs following a visit to Starkville. The 6-4, 295 lineman began his career with three years at FCS Saint Francis (PA) before transferring to JMU last season as their starting LT.
December 16 - FSU QB Luke Kromenhoek, Tulsa WR Joseph Williams, UAB G Delano Townsend, UAB C Brady Wilson, Texas LB Derion Gullette, and Elon TE Cole Hardy visit Mississippi State
FSU transfer Luke Kromenhoek has become State's primary target at QB. Pass-catchers Joseph Wilson and Cole Hardy took visits. UAB interior OL Delano Townsend and Brady Wilson are both key pieces State is after. And LB Derion Gullette is a talented young transfer.
December 14 - Arkansas WR Isaiah Sategna, Oklahoma C Joshua Bates, FSU DE Dante Anderson, Texas A&M EDGE Malik Sylla visit Mississippi State
Sategna is another speedy, deep-threat the Bulldogs are intested in for the receiving corps. Bates was a talented OL coming out of HS who saw a pair of starts for the Sooners in '24. Anderson and Sylla saw limited opportunities at their previous programs.
December 13 - Michigan State transfer wide receiver Jaron Glover commits to Mississippi State
Another wide receiver is in the boat for State. Former Michigan State Spartan Jaron Glover has chosen the Bulldogs. Battling injuries in 2024, Glover caught 15 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns.
December 13 - Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Brenen Thompson commits to Mississippi State
State added big-time speed to their wide receiver room. Oklahoma transfer Brenan Thompson committed to MSU. The small but blazing fast WR caught 19 passes for 230 yards and two scores in 2024. He now reunites with Jeff Lebby.
December 13 - Northern Illinois transfer EDGE Nevaeh Sanders commits to Mississippi State
The Bulldogs got more help at edge rusher. Northern Illinois transfer Nevaeh Sanders commits to MSU after recording 4.5 sacks in 2024. He is a true pass rush specialist.
December 12 - West Georgia DE Malik Charles and Tennessee LB Jalen Smith visit Mississippi State
State's continue working to rebuild their defense. Former West Georgia DE Malik Charles (20 tackles, 4.0 sacks in '24) is a lower level player garnering P4 attention, and former Tennessee LB Jalen Smith (34 tackles) have both taken visits to Starkville and are considered priority prospects for State.
December 11 - NC State transfer EDGE Red Hibbler commits to Mississippi State
Shortly after receiving a prediction to land NC State transfer edge rusher Red Hibbler out of the portal, news broke that Hibbler will in fact be a Bulldog in 2025. A big win for DL Coach David Turner.
December 11 - Old Dominion transfer safety Jahron Manning commits to Mississippi State
State added help to the backend of the defense. Former ODU safety Jahron Manning has chosen the Bulldogs out of the portal. The all-conference DB had 85 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and three interceptions in 2024.
December 11 - Mississippi State predicted to land NC State transfer edge rusher
247 Sports' Matt Zenitz has put in a prediction for State to land NC State transfer EDGE Red Hibbler. Hibbler is a Louisville, MS native and Northwest Mississippi CC product who posted 6.5 sacks for the Wolfpack in 2023 before taking a redshirt this season.
December 11 - Marshall linebacker Landyn Watson and Sam Houston defensive end Chris Murray visiting Mississippi State
Marshall LB Landyn Watson and Sam Houston DE Chris Murray are visiting Starkville. The two defenders began their careers at TCU before transferring to G5 programs. Watson had 65 tackles, 4.0 TFL, and an interception for the Thundering Herd, and Murray had 5.5 sacks and 11.5 TFL for the Bearkats.
December 7 - Miami transfer defensive tackle Jamil Burroughs commits to Mississippi State
Mississippi State added a big piece to their defensive front. Former Miami and Alabama defensive tackle Jamil Burroughs has committed to the Bulldogs. The 6-3, 310 Burroughs was a 4-star commit out of high school. He played three years at Alabama, recording 15 tackles and two sacks in 20 games. He transferred to Miami in 2023 but had to sit out due to missing the portal window. He left the team early in 2024.
December 7 - UCF transfer center Caden Kitler visiting Mississippi State
Former UCF center Caden Kitler is set to take a visit to Mississippi State. The 6-3, 295 lineman started 11 games for the Knights in 2024, helping pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 248 yards per game. With starter Ethan Miner out of eligibility, the Bulldogs have to find a new starter at center for the 2025 season.
November 24 - Kennesaw State transfer cornerback Jayven Williams commits to Mississippi State
Mississippi State's first transfer portal commitment came back in November. Former Kennesaw State cornerback Jayven Williams is committed to the Bulldogs. In 10 games in 2024 for the Owls, Williams had 29 tackles, four passes broken-up, a forced fumble. 1.5 sacks, and a pick-six. 247 Sports rates the 6-2, 175 corner as an 84-overall transfer.
