SEC football predictions for Week 8

The SEC has two of the best games in the country this week. Who do we see winning those matchups?

Auburn at 19 Missouri

Chase: This was hard to pick for a couple of reasons. On one end, Auburn has continued to be a disaster to watch. They have found a new way to lose each week. On the other end, Missouri has not lived up much to expectations this season. They are on the downswing, as their chances of making the playoffs are slim, but I’ll still take them. Missouri wins

Reed: Even after being thrashed by Texas A&M, Missouri is still well-coached, and I think they bounce back versus an Auburn team whose wheels are about to fall off. Missouri wins

Andrew: Missouri was wildly overrated. They're still far better than this disastrous Auburn team. Missouri wins

South Carolina at Oklahoma

Chase: South Carolina is a dangerous team to play against. Continue to pay attention to what is brewing for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. Oklahoma is great defensively under Brent Venables, but offensively, they are crushed with injuries. South Carolina’s defense will be too much for Oklahoma. South Carolina wins

Reed: I think the reason OU wins this is because of their defense. Last week, there were at times that Sellers made Alabama’s defense look putrid, and at times Alabama made Sellers look putrid. It was a mixture of a poorly coached defense going up against a wildly, inconsistent quarterback last week. Oklahoma is better coached on that side of the ball, and I think they make enough stops to win. Oklahoma wins

Andrew: This game is gross. I don't trust either team. But South Carolina is a bit more feisty and can make more plays than the Sooners. South Carolina wins

7 Alabama at 11 Tennessee

Chase: Neyland Stadium is a nightmare for opposing teams, especially in October. Nico Iamaleava has struggled as of late versus SEC teams, but this is the game he steps up. Alabama cannot figure out their defensive woes this season, and it won't stop this weekend. Tennessee wins

Reed: An inept Tennessee offense is going up against the worst Alabama defense in two decades, and something is going to have to give. I think Tennessee wins for two reasons. The first reason is that it is at home with an extremely tough atmosphere. The second reason is that I think an inconsistent offense will be able to move the ball against a bad defense. Tennessee wins

Andrew: I know Alabama's defense is struggling, but Tennessee couldn't move the ball on Florida. And while the Vol defense is strong, Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams are the best play-makers on the field. They'll be the difference. Alabama wins

8 LSU at Arkansas

Chase: LSU pulled off a big win last week against Ole Miss. The only problem is Arkansas’s defense is way better than Ole Miss. Garrett Nussmeier can't afford to make mistakes, or it will be a long day in Fayetteville. Arkansas wins

Reed: After beating Tennessee two weeks ago, the Razorbacks have had time to come down from their win over Tennessee. I think they will be focused versus an LSU team coming off an emotional high. This has the makings of a typical Brian Kelly coached game where you are scratching your head at some of his decisions. Arkansas will win in a shootout when it is all said and done. Arkansas wins

Andrew: This feels like a classic letdown spot. LSU really had no business beating Ole Miss, and while Arkansas is prone to imploding, I expect the Hogs to play some of their best ball of the season in a home rivalry game that Sam Pittman needs to get off the hotseat. Arkansas wins

5 Georgia at 1 Texas

Chase: Texas has been nothing but great this season. Whether it’s Quinn Ewers or Archie Manning, the Longhorns have not lost a beat. Georgia unfortunately has underperformed this season. Each game has been just too close for my liking. This game will show why Texas is a favorite to win the SEC. Texas wins

Reed: Texas has looked like the most complete team in the country this season while Georgia has been underperforming every week since the Clemson game. After I saw what Mississippi State did against Georgia’s defense, I fully expect Texas to have a big game offensively. Texas wins

Andrew: I don't think Georgia is as down as they're being perceived, and I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Texas easily wins. That said, the Horns have been the nation's best team, and I don't expect that to change. Texas wins

Kentucky at Florida

Chase: Here’s a smoking hot take: this will be Mark Stoops' last game as head coach for Kentucky. Much is not expected from either side in this game, but Florida comes out with the win. Florida wins

Reed: I think Florida wins for two reasons. The first reason is that it is at The Swamp. The second reason is the play of DJ Lagway. I believe he has the highest ceiling of any Florida quarterback since Tim Tebow, and with Mertz out for the year, he is prepared to showcase his skills as “the guy” at quarterback. Florida wins

Andrew: Florida has been playing better lately, and I think there's more momentum behind the Gators despite Billy Napier's inevitable firing. Florida wins
