Jonthan Banks - DB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2013
From 2009-2012, Jonthan Banks was one of the SEC's best defensive backs at Mississippi State. During that time, he racked up 221 tackles and set a school record with 16 picks.
What's more, in 2012, he won the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. That year, he also earned All-American honors from several publications and first-team All-SEC recognition.
As a result, Banks was a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2013 draft. His career appeared to get off to a good start as well.
In 2013, Banks started all 16 games for Tampa. That year, he made 55 total tackles and registered three picks. A year later, he started 14 games making 50 tackles and coming up with four interceptions.
However, after that season, Banks' career took a downturn. He would start only seven games and appear in only 19 over the next two seasons before his time with Tampa expired.
After that, Banks would be traded to the Detroit Lions where he would play in only two games before being cut in December of 2016. Then, he ended his career with two games played for the Chicago Bears in 2016 and three for the Houston Texans in 2017.
After his first two seasons, Banks failed to register any more interceptions and he made only 41 total tackles. Thus, he goes down as one of the bigger disappointments to come from Mississippi State.
