SEC football power rankings after spring portal closes: Did Bulldogs get better?

Here's a look at where the Mississippi State Bulldogs rank in the SEC football hierarchy after the closure of the spring portal.

Florida actually returns quite a bit of talent this year including QB Graham Mertz and young wide receiver Eugene Wilson. However, considering that the Gators were just 5-7 last year, that might not be enough.

The Gators may have the toughest schedule in the SEC this fall as well. Playing both Miami and Florida State in the non-conference portion of the season as well as SEC tilts with Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss will make life difficult for Billy Napier's team.

The defense was a focus in the transfer portal this offseason. In fact, the program's five highest-ranked transfers all play on that side of the football.
