Mississippi State women's basketball: 5 impressive stats from solid road win vs. Florida
By Ethan Lee
Monday evening, Sam Purcell and his Mississippi State basketball team got a pretty important victory. After dropping a disappointing home game against the Tennessee Lady Vols, the Mississippi State women's basketball team went on the road and got a double digit road victory.
Thankfully, the Mississippi State Bulldogs went into Gainesville and picked up a massive 89-77 road win against the Florida Gators. Mississippi State was able to get the 12-point win thanks in large part to the impressive and dominant performances from Jerkaila Jordan (21points and 12 rebounds) and Jessika Carter (20 points and 15 rebounds).
This was a huge road win for MSU against an upset-minded Florida team. While Florida is far from being the best team in the SEC, refusing to lose a game like this bodes well for the Bulldogs as they continue to face tough competition in the SEC.
Let's start examining this big win for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
5 impressive stats from Mississippi State women's basketball road win over Florida
Here are five important and impressive stats from the Mississippi State women's basketball win over the Florida Gators:
Mississippi State basketball never trailed this game
This might just be the most impressive part of this game. Throughout the entirety of this contest between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Florida Gators, MSU led for over 37 minutes of this game.
And the Bulldogs didn't trail for a single second. There were a half dozen ties at various points of this game, but Florida didn't lead at all. Mississippi State was able to build various leads and maintained control for almost the entirety of this contest.
Holding that sort of lead for that long on the road against an SEC team is impressive, regardless of who that SEC team is.
