Postseason baseball is officially here. The 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament begins Tuesday morning at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. What is perennially one of the biggest events of the year for the SEC will potentially have even higher stakes this season.
11 of the 12 teams in Hoover enter the SEC Tournament with legitimate NCAA Baseball Tournament hopes. Six of those teams - Kentucky, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi State - are locks to reach regional play, and it's even possible that each of the six end up hosting regionals.
Then there's a group that consists of Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and defending national champion LSU that each ended up with less than ideal 13-17 conference records but have strong enough RPI ranks to justify inclusion. It's impossible to call any of them regional locks, but each can play its way into a regional.
Seeing as how advancing into the true postseason is on the line, several teams still have a ton to play for in Hoover, and that makes it a must-watch event for college baseball fans. Not to mention that the SEC is trying out some experimental rules worth tuning-in for.
