How Mississippi State football fans with DIRECTV can watch their team following loss of ESPN and ABC
Mississippi State football treated fans to a show on Saturday night, but unfortunately, some Bulldog fans may be unable to watch their team in upcoming games.
Sunday night, Disney Entertainment announced that they would be pulling their channels from DIRECTV over contract disputes. ABC and all ESPN channels, including the SEC Network, are not currently available.
This means that for Mississippi State fans with who use DIRECTV to watch the Bulldogs, they will be unable to watch any State game until the disputes between DIRECTV and Disney are resolved. All of State's 2024 football games, including next Saturday's trip to Arizona State, will be shown on ESPN channels.
Hopefully this issue is fixed quickly, but if it isn't, how can State fans impacted watch their team?
What other options do Bulldog fans with DIRECTV have to watch their team play this season?
Here are some of the top options for Mississippi State fans impacted by the ESPN/DIRECTV dispute to consider as they look to watch their team play this season...
Fubo TV
FuboTV is a great streaming option for sports fans. Their base package runs for $79.99 a month, and first time customers will get their first month at a discounted rate. Some plans come with a free trial as well.
YouTube TV
Many sports fans have gone with YouTube TV as their streaming service because of it's popular "Quad Box" (fans can watch four games at once) and the available NFL Sunday Ticket add-on. YouTube TV's base package is $72.99 a month, and it offers a free trial and discounted rate for first-time users.
Hulu + Live TV
Streaming giant Hulu has become a popular choice for cord-cutters still looking for live TV options. You can get Hulu's live TV package for $75.99 a month, but for just $1 more, you also get access to Hulu's entire library as well as ESPN+ and Disney+.
Sling TV
Sling TV is another streaming option to consider. In order to get all channels Mississippi State could possibly play on, one would need to sign up for "Sling Orange & Blue + Sports Extra", which would in total cost $70 a month, with the first month coming at a discount.
Dish Network
If you don't want to go the streaming route, you could of course go for DIRECTV's biggest rival in the satellite TV market, Dish Network. Obviously this would be the most expensive option and would be much more of a hassle than simply downloading an app for a streaming service, but if DIRECTV's disputes with ESPN were prolonged, this may be the direction some would want to look.
Venu Sports
Venu Sports is a new streaming service that acts as a bundle between ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros. While it has not yet launched, its release is set for this fall, and it will cost subscribers $42.99 a month. Obviously this doesn't help fans in the short-term, but this could be a good option for sports fans soon.
