ESPN and the SEC reveal the songs we'll be sick of by the end of 2024 college football season

We now know the theme music for college football on ESPN, ABC, and the SEC Network for 2024, and I suspect fans will quickly grow tired of them.

With the 2024 college football season arriving soon, networks are getting fans hyped up for the year ahead by unveiling the anthems that'll play us into every game this fall. So what songs will we be hearing this season?

Jelly Roll's "Get By" is ESPN's anthem for the 2024 college football season

Each year ESPN picks the song that will serve as their anthem for the college football season. It's the song we'll hear in every commercial and during every game, and it's the song that we fans tend to get tired of pretty quickly.

I think there's a chance fans get tired of this one in record time...

ESPN has chosen country artist Jelly Roll's "Get Bye" as their 2024 college football anthem, and I'll just be completely honest with you, I'm not a fan. No offense to Jelly Roll and those who enjoy his music, but this just doesn't do it for me.

To be fair, I usually haven't cared much for any of ESPN's themes over the years, so that's nothing new. But I suspect "Get Bye" will rank low in the minds of fans compared to past anthems.

"SEC on ABC" era begins with "Fly Away" as it's anthem

2024 marks a new era for SEC football. Not only are Texas and Oklahoma joining the conference, but it will be the first year of ESPN and ABC serving as the sole media partners for the league. That means the days of the "SEC on CBS" are over, which sadly means we will no longer have the iconic theme music from the broadcast leading us into the game of the week each Saturday afternoon.

Instead, the SEC's top game will be shown on ABC each week, and the league unveiled the anthem that will ring this fall.

A remix of Lenny Kravitz's hit "Fly Away" featuring rap star Quavo will serve as the "SEC on ABC" anthem. What's unclear is if this will serve as the actual theme music or if it will accompany a theme to be released later.

I certainly hope it's the later. I don't mind this song as a part of game broadcasts, but if it's the actual theme used to lead you into kickoff, that'd be a massive disappointment. The "SEC on CBS" theme (which was technically for all CFB broadcasts on CBS, but let's be honest, it's the SEC's) was the best in sports by far.

Losing that for "Fly Away", if that is the case, would be a shame.

Luke Combs covers "Runnin' Down a Dream" for SEC Network's 2024 football anthem

Finally, the SEC Network unveiled their anthem for the 2024 season, which will be country star Luke Combs' cover of the great Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream".

Of all these anthems, this is easily my favorite. This song works great for a hype-up into a game, and since the SEC Network has never had an iconic theme to preserve, this is a good choice for 2024.

Regardless of how any of us feel about these anthems, I will confidently say that by the end of the year, we'll be absolutely sick of hearing them each week! It never fails. Each college football season, we quickly grow tired of the same songs over and over.

But the good news is that with these songs comes college football, and there's definitely no complaining about that.
