After a painful few seasons of football, the Mississippi State Bulldogs got their moment in the spotlight. Jeff Lebby's squad knocked off No. 12 Arizona State in Starkville Saturday night in front of a racous, blackout crowd in thrilling fashion.
Finally with something to celebrate, Bulldog fans did exactly what they should and stormed the field, ripping down the goalposts in mere seconds. It's the first time since 2004 that Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium has been properly stormed.

You can all but guarantee the SEC is going to be the fun police about this and reprimand MSU for their celebration. The SEC's fine for the field storming is $500,000, so I'm sure we'll soon get some announcement of that penalty for Mississippi State. The SEC used to have an escalating system in place that softened the blow for first-time abusers, but that went away earlier this year.
There is the chance for another type of fine for the Bulldogs as well...
It appears that Mississippi State fans have chosen to not “respect the bell, just yell” tonight

Mississippi State's agreement with the SEC to be able to use cowbells inside Davis Wade Stadium features rules that dictate when bells can and cannot be rung. Technically, once the center gets over the ball, the bells are to be stopped, also known as "respecting the bell."
Well, State fans were not abiding by those rules at all on Saturday night. The clanging was nonstop from the pregame until the last fan left Davis Wade Stadium. In the past, State has been fined by the SEC for not "respecting the bell", so we can't rule out getting a slap on the wrist for that either.
Any fines that result from tonight's game are absolutely worth it for Mississippi State
Let's be clear about these likely fines...they're totally worth it.
Mississippi State fans have not had hardly anything worth celebrating with their football team over the past two years. Since the tragic passing of Mike Leach, the program has gone into the abyss. They've had to sit back and watch other SEC programs rise to breakthrough years while seeing their program bottom-out largely due to unprecedented circumstances.
This program and fanbase deserved a win, and they deserved to get to celebrate in the most fun way possible. And yeah, they deserved to ring those cowbells freely and make Davis Wade Stadium the wildest environment in the nation. So fines be damned. Have a night, Stark Vegas.
