No part of your roster is more important to build up than the lines of scrimmage, and Mississippi State football added a quality piece there over the weekend. The Bulldogs picked up the commitment of Class of 2026 interior offensive lineman Cam'Ron Thompson.

An 86-overall 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports, Cam'Ron Thompson holds offers from the likes of Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Louisville. The 6-3, 300 pound lineman out of Gadsden County High School in Havana, FL picked up his offer from Mississippi State just over a month ago, and it didn't take him long to settle on Starkville for his college destination.

Thompson is Mississippi State's fifth offensive line commitment in the Class of 2026. He joins a trio of offensive tackle prospects in Dalton Toothman, Jayden Ross, and Charles Humphrey as well as interior prospect Dylan Steen. And he's an important addition considering the prospects the Bulldogs' have lost at the position.

4-star tackle Emmanuel Tucker and 3-star interior prospect JaKobe Green were both significant decommitments in the class that have flipped to other schools, LSU and Florida State respectively. With Cam'Ron Thompson now committed, Mississippi State is back to being in a good spot with their offensive line class for 2026. OL Coach Phil Loadholt has done a nice job of building up that position on the recruiting trail.

Offensive commitments for 2026 recruiting class continue to look solid for Mississippi State Bulldogs

As it stands, Mississippi State's 2026 recruiting class ranks No. 44 nationally according to 247 Sports. That's not where Bulldog fans want to be nor should they. There's no getting around the fact that defensive recruiting has been a major letdown this cycle.

But what shouldn't be overlooked is that Jeff Lebby and his staff have done a nice job landing talent on offense. No, the Bulldogs do not currently have any 4-star commitments (though a handful of prospects should be), but across the board, the offensive class is made up of players with legitimate power conference and SEC offers.

They aren't looking at players who are strictly developmental prospects and taking shots guys that no other major program has shown interest in. They're quality commitments who are expected to be able to contribute at the next level. State has a long way to go to get their 2026 class up to an acceptable level, but at the very least, Lebby's side of the ball is being set up for success.
