LED lights to be installed at Mississippi State football's Davis Wade Stadium
On Tuesday, Mississippi State announced the addition of LED lights to Davis Wade Stadium. This will be a welcome addition, as Mississippi State fans and boosters who have been pleading for this upgrade in recent years. The installation of LED lights will be the first upgrade to the stadium's lighting system since 2010.
LED lighting has become all the rage in college football stadiums. Alabama was one of the first teams in the Southeastern Conference to utilize LED lights for night games. Since then, several of the league's institutions have followed suit. Now Mississippi State joins them.
This is a move that should help improve the stadium atmosphere in Starkville, which has grown slate in recent seasons and fallen behind other SEC programs. With LED lights comes in-game light shows, which are great for hyping up the crowd and making big moments of celebration even more intense.
The LED lighting will also bring a more uniform look on the playing surface. There were times in the past where Davis Wade looked more dim on television, and this addition will increase the light exposure for the fans watching at home. This is a fantastic move for Mississippi State football, and it's a sign of the program and athletic department as a whole getting with the times in college football.
