Mississippi State football didn't get the result it wanted on the field over the weekend with a frustrating loss to Missouri. But it was still a productive weekend for the Bulldogs off the field. On Sunday, MSU picked up a trio of commitments that should be very beneficial to the program.

3-star offensive tackle Spencer Dowland commits to Mississippi State

Mississippi State picked-up a future piece along the offensive line. 3-star offensive tackle Spencer Dowland from Athens, AL committed to the Bulldogs. Dowland was previously committed to Auburn.

The 6-6, 290 Dowland is rated as an 88-overall prospect by 247 Sports and is the 40th-best tackle prospect in the country. Along with State and Auburn, he holds offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Dowland chose the Bulldogs after taking an official visit to Starkville over the weekend.

JUCO offensive tackle Saquon Miles commits to Mississippi State

State also added a piece who could immediately step-in and help their offensive line next season. 3-star offensive tackle Saquon Miles from Hinds CC committed to the Bulldogs on Sunday, also following an official visit over the weekend.

Miles is a big addition for State. The 6-6, 300 Greenville, AL-native is the #1 rated JUCO tackle in the country with an 87-rating per 247 Sports. The previous Troy-commit has been racking-up SEC offers over the past two months, holding offers from Ole Miss, Auburn, and Georgia.

Kennesaw State-transfer cornerback Jayven Williams commits to Mississippi State

State has its first transfer commitment of the year in former Kennesaw State cornerback Jayven Williams. Williams is rated as an 84-overall, 3-star transfer prospect per 247 Sports.

Williams was having a productive season for the Owls before his decision to transfer. He had 29 tackles, four passes broken-up, a forced fumble, 1.5 sacks, and a pick-six in 10 games.

Mississippi State already addressing positions of need for 2025

These commitments are important for State given they're areas the Bulldogs need improvements next season. Offensive line play has been a struggle, especially in pass protection. And State's corners aren't to the level they need to be either.

Saquon Miles will have the chance to make an immediate impact next season, while Spencer Dowland is a good prospect to have wait in the wings. Jayven Williams is a solid add to the secondary who at a minimun will provide more depth. With Signing Day and the transfer window approaching, this is a good start for the Bulldogs.
