There's no clearer sign each summer that the college football season is right around the corner than the arrival of SEC Media Days. When we reach "Talkin' Season," we know it's time to start gearing up for fall Saturdays.
That time has come once again. 2025 SEC Media Days will kickoff next week at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, GA, as the league's coaches and top players will gather to preview the upcoming season. For Jeff Lebby and Mississippi State football, they'll make the trip to the Peach State on Wednesday, July 16.
Joining head coach Jeff Lebby in Atlanta will be sixth-year quarterback Blake Shapen, junior safety Isaac Smith, and senior wide receiver Brenen Thompson.
Locked in for Atlanta.

Two of those selections come at no surprise at all. Blake Shapen is the starting QB for the Bulldogs and made the trip to Media Days last season too. How he's progressed coming back from injury and entering his second season in Jeff Lebby's offense will be key talking points. Isaac Smith is the best player on the roster, having led the SEC in tackles last season and earning 2nd Team All-SEC honors. Many will certainly be eager to hear from Smith how things will be different, and better, for the Bulldog defense in 2025.
Brenen Thompson is an interesting choice for Mississippi State. The Oklahoma transfer rejoined Jeff Lebby this offseason and is expected to be one of the starters for the Bulldogs in a new-look wide receiver room. He's a new face to the roster, but throughout the spring Lebby consistently brought him up as one of the leaders on the offense. It will be good to hear his perspective on reuniting with his old play-caller and the transition to Starkville.
Mississippi State fans are sure to pay close attention to what Lebby and his players have to say next week. There are plenty of newcomers on this team, and ideally this will be a chance to learn about who will make an impact. And after a dismal 2-10 2024 season, everyone desperately wants to know why and how the 2025 season will be better for the Bulldogs.
