The Egg Bowl is here, as the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and there are already shenanigans in Starkville. Ahead of the game, Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin told the SEC Network that a pair of Mississippi State fans broke into the Rebels' locker room last night and stole QB Trinidad Chambliss' jersey.

Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger provided some further context on the incident, saying one fan videoed himself committing the act and the authorities have surveillance footage of the vehicle. Ole Miss also had backup jerseys, so Chambliss will be in his typical uniform.

The Egg Bowl continues to be college football's craziest rivalry

This is just the latest example of why the Egg Bowl is college football craziest rivalry game. There may be plenty of games that have more stakes on the line and are more relevant nationally. But few games if any have the pure, unfiltered hatred flowing through it than the Egg Bowl does, and none come close to matching the inevitable wackiness that we get when the Bulldogs and Rebels get together.

We've had a phantom gust of wind push a potential game-winning kick that otherwise would've been good straight back to fall short. A defender once tipped a pass off his foot and into his teammates arm for a last-minute interception to set up a winning kick. A player pretended to pee like a dog after a touchdown and got a penalty that ultimately resulted in a game-tying kick missing. Mississippi State fans breaking into the Ole Miss locker room and stealing their star quarterback's jersey? Just add it to the list.

Also, are we entirely sure this isn't a false flag operation? It is the Egg Bowl after all, and I can think of nothing more on brand for this rivalry than one side staging a locker room break-in and stealing of a jersey as a motivational tactic. And I could certainly see Lane Kiffin being desperate enough to put together this elaborate ruse to try and get his team focused on the game after he's spent the last two weeks distracting them by flirting with the LSU and Florida jobs.

Whether it was truly a pair of college students pulling a dumb rivalry stunt or it was staged, it couldn't be more fitting for this rivalry. And you've got to think the craziness will carry over to the field.
